12 to 14 Days

The Antarctic Circle is the southernmost point only experienced by a select few travellers. Cruise through the icy waters of this pristine paradise to see orcas, seas, whales and colonies of penguins framed by towering ice bergs and crystal-like glaciers.

Note: Itineraries may vary depending on the ship. Some itineraries may include pre/post nights in Ushuaia, Buenos Aires, Punta Arenas or Santiago. This itinerary is a guide only. This itinerary and duration of voyage may depending on the expedition vessel, departure and weather conditions.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Ushuaia (D)

Depart from Ushuaia in the late afternoon to sail Beagle Channel.

Day 2 - 4: Drake Passage (B L D)

Enjoy seabirds on Drake Passage, first landing in South Shetlands, scenic and whare –rich Gerlache Strait, then Lemaire Channel.

Day 5 - 7: Antarctic Peninsula

Sail down Penola Strait and Grandidier Channel to Circle and beyond (ice willing), aiming for two spectacular landings daily. Each day, you will take Zodiac excursions from the ship to explore local bays, channels and landing sites. With wildlife always at the forefront of our minds, you will visit penguin rookeries, scout for humpback and minke whales, and search for a number of southern seal species, including the cunning leopard seal.

Day 8 - 9: Antarctica Circle (B L D)

Crossing the Antarctic Circle is an impressive achievement, as most expeditions to the Antarctic Peninsula do not reach this far south—66°33’ S. This is raw Antarctica, home of the midnight sun, penguins and some of the most awe-inspiring ice formations you’ll see anywhere on the continent

Day 10 - 11: Heading North (B L D)

By now, your knowledge of Adélie, chinstrap and gentoo penguins will be matched by your ability to differentiate between a leopard, fur and Weddell seal. As you head north, Zodiac excursions will fill your days, and your Expedition Team will continue offering presentations and looking out for species of penguins, seals and whales that may have eluded you on your journey south.

Day 12 - 13: Drake Passage (B L D)

As you recross the Drake, Antarctica fades away, leaving you with a collection of memories to last a lifetime.

Day 14: Ushuaia (B)

Disembarkation in Ushuaia.
