Itinerary
After breakfast, transfer to airport for flight to Salta. Upon arrival at Salta’s airport, transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, a walking tour of the city awaits you, strolling through the stunning streets, observing the historic churches and colonial buildings, before visiting the Museum of High Altitude Archaeology (MAAM).
Early departure from Salta. Travel through the stunning Del Toro Gorge heading for the small town of San Antonia de los Cobres. After lunch (not included), continue through the Puna up to Salinas Grandes Salt Flat before descending through De Lipan Slope to Purmamarca.
Departure to the Altiplanic Lagoons, wihch represent one of the seven sectors that embrase Los Flamencos National Reserve, alongside Chaxa Lagoon and the Atacama salt flat. During this tour, we will visit the Miscanti, Miñiques and Toconao Lagoons.
Return to hotel for the night.
Departure to the Bolivian border, Hito Cajon, where we will continue to the Verde Lagoon, Dali Valley, Chaviri hotsprings, Geysers of the Morning. Continue onwards to the Laguna Colorada to appreciate the flamingos of James, unique in the world.
Arrive in Villamar for your overnight stay.
After a morning visit to the local Cave Paintings, Fort Necropolis of Tomas Lakjas and Valley of the Rocks, we will continue to Uyuni, passing through the towns of Culpina and San Cristobal. During this trip, you will visit the Cemetery of Trains before finally arriving at Colchani, where you will stay at a salt hotel.
Today we will explore the famous Uyuni Salt Flat, the largest salt flat in the world. During this tour, we will visit a salt processing plant, the Incahuasi Island, where we can observe the giant Cactus, and the Pucara de Ayque. After lunch, which will be served on the salt flat, we have a fun photo session before a relaxing time to enjoy the sunset.
After breakfast, morning departure for Argentina. On the way, we stop at the mining centre in Atocha, as well as Tupiza. We will then arrive at Villazon La Quiaca, where we will go through migration procedures. The trip will continue through the Quebrada de Humahuaca before arriving in Tilcara for an overnight stay.
We explore the Humahuaca Gorge, Humanity’s Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, and the stunning mountain range if El Hornocal, also called Cerro de los 14 Colores (Mountains of 14 Colours). The viewpoint here is at 4350 meters above sea level. Enjoy the stunning panoramic views here before continuing your return to Salta.
