Itinerary
Morning departure to Cotopaxi. The Cotopaxi Volcano, and its national park, are part of Ecuador’s most impressive natural wonders. With the volcano reaching a height of 5,897 m (19,347 ft.), it is a spectacular sight that will never fail to amaze. In the National Park our travellers will explore the Limpiopungo Lagoon (3,800 m / 12,467 ft) while observing a great variety of Andean birds, beautiful paramo surroundings and will also have a fantastic view of the Cotopaxi Volcano. Afternoon departure towards the Riobamba area to spend the night.
Visit to Chimborazo Volcano, standing at 6,310 meters (20,702 ft.) above sea level and, due to its location on the equator, its peak is the farthest point from the centre of the Earth. Departing from the parking lot, located at 4,800 our travellers will have a stunning view of the surrounding volcanoes and the national park’s paramo landscape and flora and fauna. Other visits in the area will include Colta, the Balbanera Church (the first Catholic house of worship in Ecuador), and Cajabamba (original location of the city of Riobamba). Afternoon departure towards the city of Cuenca to spend the night.
Morning tour of Cuenca, where travellers will visit Calderon Park (Cuenca’s central park), the flower plaza, The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (best known as the “New Cathedral”) and the El Sagrario Cathedral (known as the “Old Cathedral”), as well as the Paja Toquilla Hat Museum. En route to Guayaquil, we will visit El Cajas National Reserve for a panoramic view of the park.
Morning tour of Guayaquil, Ecuador’s largest city and has one of the country’s most storied and colourful pasts. During our travellers’ visit of Guayaquil, they will visit the Las Peñas district, exploring one of the city’s most traditional neighbourhoods, the Malecon 2000 and its rotunda, the main 9 de Octubre avenue, the Seminario Park (also called the “Iguana” Park due to its many scaly residents) and the Centenario Park.
