Tour Overview

Discover the rich and diverse history of Colombia in this tour showcasing the coffee and fruit region of the Cauca Valley and experiencing the new  transformed Medellin following the drug wars of the 1980’s. Experience the traditions and customs in this ‘coffee zone’ including local architecture, traditional liquors, and quaint but lively nightlife. You will learn about Pablo Escobar visiting the famous “La Catedral” originally a prison but now a monastery while reflecting on his life and his impact on the transformed Medellin.

DAY 1
Arrive in Medellin

On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Tonight, you will experience true local flavours as you visit a Fonda.

DAY 2
Medellin

On this tour, you will have the opportunity to understand the transformation Medellin lived after the violent period. From the most dangerous city to the most innovative city in the world. You will visit Casa Museo de la Memoria and Comuna 13, the neighborhood at the core of the transformation. With a local guide, you will visit the escalators, the Metro Cable, the Hip Hop school and you will have a gastronomic and social experience that will help you to analyze how these people decided to change their life through art, graffiti, and music.

Afternoon tour retracing the life of the infamous, Pablo Escobar. You will visit La Catedral, the prison he built for himself and the Monaca Building where the law finally caught up with him

DAY 3
Medellin – Santa Fe de Antioquia

This morning you will be picked up from your hotel.

Nestled into a hot valley near the banks of Rio Cauca, quaint Santafé de Antioquia is considered one of the most beautiful colonial villages of Colombia. During our visit, we will explore the colonial landmarks of Santa Fé de Antioquia and the “Puente de Occidente” (West Bridge), a national monument that was once the longest bridge in South America. Spanning 291 meters across the Cauca River, this bridge played a vital role in enhancing commerce and trade in the area.

Santa Fe de Antioquia - Jardin

In the morning, you will take a trip to a vineyard close to Santa Fe de Antioquia provides a rewarding and tranquil experience. Upon arrival, an experienced guide will welcome you and lead you on a tour of the vineyards, discussing the different grape varieties cultivated and sustainable farming practices.

 

In the afternoon, embark on an enchanting half-day exploration of Jardín, Antioquia, a picturesque Colombian town that will captivate you with its natural beauty, vibrant culture, and rich history. This tour is designed for you to discover the charms of Jardín in a relaxed yet complete way, allowing you to connect with the essence of this magical place. We begin our tour at the emblematic Plaza Principal, the heart of the town. Here, you will admire the imposing Basilica Menor de la Inmaculada Concepción, a beautiful example of neo-Gothic architecture. You will have time to stroll around the square, observe the daily life of the locals and enjoy a delicious coffee in one of the traditional cafes that surround it.

Jardin - Jerico

Travel to the precious coffee village of Jericó, listed as Cultural Heritage Village with the 16 most beautiful chapels of Antioquia in its town centre. Take a guided tour of the historic centre with its traditional facades and the local “carriel” workshops. These special leather accessories are handmade in Jericó and make great gift options

Jerico - Fredonia - Tamesis

Delve into the captivating charm of Fredonia, Antioquia on a half-day tour, renowned for its rich coffee heritage and stunning mountain vistas. Immerse yourself in the essence of Fredonia as you unravel its culture, history, and coffee-making traditions against a backdrop of cozy and picturesque surroundings. Begin your journey by visiting a local coffee farm, where you’ll gain insight into the entire coffee cultivation process, from seedling to steaming cup.

Embark on a spellbinding evening tour in Támesis, as you uncover the enigmatic petroglyphs nestled in the rugged terrain. Tamesis - Salento

Discover a unique cultural experience in Támesis, Antioquia, with a tour that introduces you to the Emberá Chamí indigenous community. This journey offers an opportunity to learn about the traditions, history, and way of life of one of the region’s most representative indigenous groups.

Transfer to Salento.

Salento

Embark on a tour through the enchanting Cocora Valley, where towering wax palms dot the lush hillsides, reaching up to 60 meters into the mystical cloud forest. Considered one of the most beautiful valleys in Colombia, Cocora Valley offers a stunning backdrop for hikes and horseback rides (not included). This valley, located in Colombia’s coffee zone, is home to the country’s national tree, the Quindian wax palm, one of the tallest palm species in the world.

Our journey continues with a visit to the traditional and colorful town of Salento, one of the most picturesque coffee villages. Here, you can stroll through the charming streets and main square, searching for delicious coffee and lovingly crafted handicrafts. Lunch (payable locally) will be enjoyed at a typical comedor in the Salento area, rounding off a memorable day out.
