Itinerary
After the optional opportunity for a dawn birdwatching tour in the Georgetown Botanical Gardens, transfer to Eugene F. Correia International Airport in Georgetown for a flight over the Essequibo and Demerara rivers. This flight will take you over hundreds of miles of unbroken tropical jungle before your arrival at Kaieteur Falls, the world’s highest free-falling waterfall.
Flight back to Georgetown for your overnight rest.
Overnight at Cara Lodge.
Pick up and transfer to Eugene F. Correia International Airport for your scheduled flight to Fair View Airstrip. Here, you will be picked up and transferred to Iwokrama River Lodge. You will be given time to explore the trails and go birdspotting in the surrounding areas around the lodge, guided by an Iwokrama Ranger.
Enjoy an evening river night spotting to look for animals such as black caimans, giant river otters, and a large array of birdlife.

Early morning boat ride on the Essequibo River, taking you around different islands such as the nearby Indian House Island, before returning to the lodge for breakfast. Following breakfast, we will be back on the river heading towards Turtle Mountain, a small mountain with a summit of 360 meters (935ft). This walk will take you an hour and three quarters, with amazing opportunities for wildlife watching of the jungle canopy from the peak.
Late afternoon boat ride to Kurupukari Falls to see Amerindian petroglyphs (dependent on the water level). Enjoy an evening drive to spot nocturnal wildlife before returning to Iwokrama River Lodge for your overnight rest.
Take time to explore the trails around the lodge for one last time, guided by an Iwokrama Ranger. Transfer from the Iwokrama River Lodge along a road known for being one of the best places to see the elusive Jaguar, to the Iwokrama Canopy Walkway at the Atta Rainforest Lodge.
At Atta Rainforest Lodge, enjoy time walking the trails near the lodge, as well as exploring the canopy walkways, looking out for playful primates and colourful birds.

Enjoy a pre-dawn visit to the walkway to try to spot elusive, beautiful animals, before returning to the lodge for breakfast.
Today, you can enjoy your day watching wildlife and birdwatching along the numerous trails in the area. You may also want to return to the canopy walkway or go for night walks.
Overnight at Atta Rainforest Lodge.
Enjoy the dawn chorus at the canopy walkway, listening to the calls of Black Howler and Red Spider Monkeys, as well as the dozens of birds that call the rainforest canopy home. Return to the lodge for breakfast before your departure.
Transfer to the Cock-of-the-rock trail and then continue to Rock View Lunch for Lunch. Continue onwards to Kwatamang Landing and board boat for transfer to Rewa Eco Lodge.
At Rewa Eco Lodge, enjoy a late afternoon boat ride and short walk to oxbow lake for close-up views of the massive Victoria Amazonica water lilies and lily-pads.

Enjoy breakfast looking over stunning sunrise views of the river before departing for your excursion up Awarmie Mountain, which is a 244 meter (800ft) high summit with amazing views of the rainforest canopies.
After returning to Rewa Eco Lodge for lunch, we will take an afternoon boat ride up the Rewa River for a 15 minute hike to a place called “Grass Pond”.

Morning boat ride and hike through the rainforest to reach the savannah before returning to the lodge for lunch. After returning to Rewa Eco Lodge for lunch, we will take an afternoon boat ride up the Rewa River to a location known as Seawall. Continuing upriver, we will hike through the rainforest with hopes of spotting the Goliath Bird-Eating Spider.

After breakfast, board a boat for travel along the Rupununi River to Kwatamang Landing before visiting the village of Aranaputa and their community-owned and operated peanut butter factory. Continue to the Pakaraima Mountain Inn for lunch.
Boat transfer from Ginep Landing to Karanambu Lodge. with wildlife spotting opportunities along the way. Enjoy a late afternoon boat excursion for further wildlife spotting and watch the amazing giant Victoria Amazonica Water Lilies bloom at dusk.
On the return trip, spotlight and keep an eye out for black caimans, and other night critters.

This morning, we will explore the rolling grasslands surrounding the lodge, home to a population of giant anteaters, which can reach up to 2.2m long.
In the evening, enjoy a river excursion for some birdwatching, with the goal to find the Agami Heron. An evening walk along the airstrip here offers opportunities to find seven species of nightjar, and Double-striped Thick-knees.
Overnight at Karanambu Lodge.
In the early morning, you will be given the opportunity to travel out to search the savannah for giant anteaters once more, or explore the nearby honey trails on foot.
After returning to the lodge for breakfast, depart for Yupukari and the Caiman House by boat. At the Caiman House, engage in an experience for capturing, tagging, sexing and rereleasing caimans into the river.

Early morning canoe excursion on Awariku Lake for bird and wildlife spotting. After breakfast, take a vehicle transfer from the Caiman House to Lethem for your scheduled flight to Eugene F. Correia International Airport. Pickup and transfer from Eugene F. Correia International Airport to Georgetown, for your overnight stay at Cara Lodge.
