In this activity, which can be done either in the morning or in the afternoon, we will learn about the work of the Cerro Guido Conservation Foundation and we will visit some of the conservation areas within the Estancia, through binocular observation and camera traps we will be able to appreciate in the field part of the fauna of the Patagonian steppe and the work that the Foundation’s team carries out daily in the research of its top predator; the puma.

This ride is a must for beginner riders or those who simply want to enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds the Estancia. We leave from the stables to the high part of the Estancia, with the ride taking us through a gentle plain with the majestic Torres del Paine always in sight. On the way up we border a forest of Lengas and Ñirres, native Patagonian trees. On the way back we ride through meadows and open fields where it is common to see native fauna such as guanacos, rheas, and foxes, as well as horses and sheep.

This ride takes us through the immensity of the Patagonian steppe. We leave towards the lower part of the Estancia in the direction of Laguna Los Flamencos, a privileged place for bird watching. it is common to see groups of flamingos, ducks, geese, and rheas among others. Surrounded by the Sierra del Cazador, Sierra Baguales and the Paine Masiff, this tour through the Pampa invites riders with some experience to practice trotting and galloping.

The most experienced riders looking for excitement and natural beauty will love this ride, the longest and fastest we propose. We leave riding towards the lower part of the ranch, through plains and meadows we head towards the Las Flores sector, with the Sierra Baguales becoming more imposing as we go along. After a picnic lunch, we turn through the upper part of the Estancia, this time with the Paine Massif in sight. Through the route there are long stretches for trotting and galloping.

Located within the Torres del Paine National Park, Lake Sarmiento is the largest of this nature reserve and is bordered to the east by the Estancia Cerro Guido. The hike takes place near the base of the Sierra del Toro, from where we descend slowly through the steppe to reach the southeast shore of the lake, where we will have a great view of the Paine Masiff. There we can appreciate the thrombolites, calcium carbonated deposits characteristic of Lake Sarmiento and then return by a short and slightly steep climb.

This hike offers the possibility to depart on foot from the hotel and discover at your own pace the natural beauty that surrounds the Estancia. Following a beautiful creek lined with Lenga trees, a native Patagonian tree, you will reach the viewpoint, where you can enjoy a wide panorama, particularly of the majestic Torres del Paine and Lake Sarmiento. The hike has the advantage of having many open views, so the final destination will depend on how far you want to walk. The route is ideal for the observation of the typical Patagonian fauna such as guanacos, rheas, foxes and sheep.

One of Patagonia’s classic hikes and the national park’s main attraction, backpackers from around the world challenge themselves with this intense hike every year. For those who want to explore the Torres del Paine Mountains for a day, this experience is definitely worth it. We leave the hotel early to head to Torres del Paine National Park, where we begin our hike approaching the Paine Massif and facing the first major 2km climb that will take us into the Ascencio Valley. We continue through the valley, passing Campamento Chileno and gradually ascending through a Lenga forest until we reach the foot of the glacial moraine that leads up to the Torres del Paine viewpoint. Probably the most challenging, the final hours of steep climb over rocky terrain takes us to one of Patagonia’s most iconic landscapes: the three granite towers that give Torres del Paine its name.

Our guided tour is an invitation to discover an authentic Patagonian Estancia, where not only the original buildings — valuable testaments to the region’s architectural heritage — have been preserved, but also the traditional lifestyle that defines the very essence of Patagonia. This tour of the Estancia, founded over 100 years ago, is a true journey back in time. We begin with a map of the province and a historical introduction to livestock farming in Patagonia. We then walk through different areas of the Estancia, such as the vegetable garden and greenhouse, where we can sample some of the products, season permitting. We then visit the manor house and the shearing shed. In the latter building, the most emblematic of all ranch work, you can witness the traditional shearing and understand the wool grading process (seasonal only).

After an introduction to the history of Patagonia’s first hunter-gatherers, we set out to explore the pampas to understand how these groups moved and inhabited some of the sites now found on Estancia, which have been identified as archaeological sites. On the ground, we will learn about the most recent studies and discoveries made by the team of archaeologists working at Cerro Guido.

Sparsely populated and with water sources that directly descend from glaciers and mountains, Patagonia and its crystalline rivers are one of the most pristine places in the world for fishing. The area surrounding Torres del Paine, where Cerro Guido is located, stands out as an attractive destination for anglers from around the world.
