Tatio Geysers
Tour through the geothermal fields where you can view the geysers, fumaroles and mud baths at dawn. After breakfast, take a dip in a rustic hot spring and then continue the tour to the Machuca village.
Puritama Hot Spring and Trekking Guatin Photografic
After trekking between cacti, relax in the thermal waters of the High Andes at the Punta del Inca amidst beautiful surroundings where the River Puritama (“hot water” in the Kunza language) spills into 8 different pools whose temperatures fluctuate between 29° and 33°C.
High Plateau Lakes and Red Stones
Meet one of the most spectacular places in the region; two lagoons at 4.300 meters that are located on the slopes of their respective volcanoes; Miñiques and Miscanti. On the tour we will have a privileged view of the Salar de Atacama and watch from near the volcanoes of the Andes. Then continue our journey towards Piedras Rojas, a unique landscape where nature combines colors creating an unimaginable view.
Vineyeard and Rupestre Art
We shall visit the highest vineyard in the world where – guided by the locals – we shall enjoy a tasting of their wines. We shall then go on to Talabre at the foot of the Lascar Volcano where we walk down a canyon decorated with prehistoric art: a stopping point for the ancient llama caravans dating back to 3,600 BC. We shall have an organic lunch here and try – cholesterol free – llama steaks whilst admiring panoramic views of the Atacama Saltpan and its lagoons.
Rainbow valley and Rio Grande Town
We shall visit Yerbas Buenas: a rocky island that tells us, in its rock drawings, the ancestral history of the Lican-Antay people, after which we shall move on to Rainbow Valley: fascinating colored mountains where we shall stop for lunch.
Afterwards, we shall visit Río Grande, an ancient village lying between the Andes and the river, with its old church.
Cejar Lagoon and Tebinquinche Lagoon
The lagoon is in the Atacama salt flat, and is a beautiful natural mirror reflecting the Andes. The water has a 40% salt concentration, where you can enjoy a bath and floar effortlessly. Tebinquinche lagoon for lunch.
Chaxa Lagoon
On this excursion we visit the town of Toconao with its church, markets and local handicraft shops. Then we go into the heart of the Atacama Salt flat to watch the flamingos in the beautiful lagoon.
Cejar Lagoon Biking
36 kms Bicycle tour (round trip) to visit the first lagoons north of the Atacama Saltpan. It includes the experience of floating in Laguna Piedra, thanks to its high density waters given by the large amount of salt. We continue after with a 10 minute walk to the Cejar Lagoon, where you will enjoy a box lunch.
Arqueological Tour Tulor- Quitor and Inca Ruins
Visit the ruins of Tulor, the Pucara (fortification) of Quitor and the Tambo (wayside inn) of the Inca, and learn about the history and evolution of the Atacama civilization.
Moon Valley
This valley is one of the most distinctive attractions of San Pedro de Atacama. After visiting different beauty spots, we will end the tour by enjoying a cocktail on a beautiful viewpoint waiting for the sunset.
Devil’s Throat Biking
Walk over 20 kms. Toward the interior of the mountainous canyon of the Devil’s Throat inside the Salt Andes in the sector of Catarpe, where we shall observe large walls of clay and stone, crossed by sandy ground and a river, as far as the Chapel of San Isidro.
Hiking Cornises
We cross the old tunnel of Quitor to get to the Moon Valley Cornices were we walk towards the highest dune. On the road appreciate the Salt Mountain Chain, The Andes Mountains, San Pedro’s Ayllus and the Domeykos Mountain chain after downloading the largest dune, the van will be waiting to return to the hotel.
Ayllus
The oasis of San Pedro de Atacama is split up into 15 sectors (or ayllus in the Kunza language). During this ride on horseback we shall be able to observe the local flora, with ancient carob and native chañar trees, as well as the ancestral and modern homes built using adobe and local materials brought in from the south of the village.
Death Valley
Get to know the Salt Andes on horseback from the hotel as far as the famous Death Valley where we can admire the formations created by wind erosion over the last few thousand years as well as the vegetation typical of the area.
Cornisas and Dunes
No prior acclimatization required, but be sure to wear trekking shoes and a sunscreen. Physical requirement: high. Lasts 5 hours and includes a cocktaill.On the way toward the ayllus of Quitor and Catarpe, we shall cross a tunnel that in ancient times served as the route to Calama and which, at its exit, connected to an access to the ledges of the Salt Mountains. These ledges marked the entrance to the Valley of Death, from where we ride down and begin our return to the hotel.
Hiking Guatin
A good physical condition is recommendable because this trip involves walking and climbing hilly areas with a 2 hour trek along 3 km of the Guatin valley, beside the River Vilama where plants can be viewed such as fox tails and giant cardon cacti which can reach nearly 10 mts high.
