Itinerary
After breakfast, we will visit the main streets and avenues of Mexico City. Visit to the “Zocalo” (Main Square) and the National Palace in which you will admire the magnificent frescoes of Diego Rivera (closed on sundays). On to Chapultepec Park. On the way to the Sanctuary of Guadalupe short stop by the “Plaza de las 3 Culturas” (Three Cultures Square).
We will continue our tour to the Guadalupe Shrine before a road transfer through a modern highway, before we will reach the site of Teotihuacan, “Where men become gods”. Tour of the ruins of the grand temple before returning to hotel for overnight stay.
After breakfast, departure to Puebla, the “City of Angels” visiting Santa Maria Tonantzintla, a stunning temple gorgeously decorated by indigenous hands. Upon arrival to Puebla, visit to Rosario’s Chapel, the Cathedral, the Main Square and the Historical Downtown. Transfer to the bus station and on to Oaxaca. Arrival and transfer to the hotel.
After breakfast visit to San Juan Chamula and Zinacantán, touring its native towns, where the people still maintain Indigenous traditions, customs and social structure. The Church Temple, housing and clothing are original and well-preserved. The afternoon is at leisure, however recommended locations within this city include the marketplace, the local Cathedral, Santo Domingo church and the Jade museum, home to a replica of King Pakal’s tomb. Overnight stay in San Cristobal de las Casas.
After breakfast, visit the archaeological site of Palenque, surrounded by jungle. One of the prime and most important cites of the “Mayan World”. Inside the Pyramid of the Inscriptions, King Pakal’s sarcophagus and its fascinating carved gravestone were found. We will view the Sun Temple, the Cross Temple and the Palace. Ahead we will find a nice panoramic of the Gulf of Mexico. Continue on to the beautiful walled city of Campeche. Overnight stay in Campeche
After breakfast, depart to Uxmal, “the three times built”, to see the Guesser Pyramid, the Quadrangle of the Nuns, Governor’s Palace, and Ballgame Court. Arrival to Merida, “the White City” to enjoy a panoramic view. Afternoon visits to Montejo Avenue, the monument to Motherland, the Main Square, the Cathedral and the Government Palaces of the city. Overnight in Merida.
After breakfast, departure to Chichen Itza, one of the most important Mayan sites in Mexico, declared one of the 7 new wonders of the world and World Heritage listed by UNESCO. Chichen Itza is distinct as one of the world’s most well-preserved archaeoastronomic sites, where the Maya observed the stars. Visit to the pyramid known as the “The Castle” or Temple Kukulcan , the Ballgame Court, the Skull temple, Jaguar’s temple, the Observatory, the One Thousand Columns Square and the Sacred Well. Ahead to the Ik-Kil sinkhole, a beautiful, huge open-air sinkhole located only 3km from Chichen Itza, which allows for swimming in its deep blue waters. Onto Cancun in the afternoon.
